Polishing Off Pancreatic Cancer, Redux

I have been wondering what I have to do to generate some interest in Polishing Off PC. I know some of you may not be familiar with the prizes, so to whet your appetite, here are pics of some of them (with more to follow later):

Dollish Polish Spectral Pup

Dollish Polish Deadly Nightshade

Prizes from the Dollish Polish SUPER Mario Bros. Collection, from left to right: It's A Me, Mario; Go Luigi!; A Peachy Princess; Wicked Wario; The Koopa King
Ninja Polish/I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous Floam

And, the AWESOME Shannon from Pahlish has designed a custom color in honor of Polishing Off PC, and 5 lucky ducks are going to each get a bottle as part of a bonus raffle! Who wouldn't want to be the owner of a custom color?

Since the Gilty Pleasures Box from Zoya is now sold out, I also decided to re-organize the prizes, and the order as it stands now is:

$50: Spectral Pup (Dollish Polish) This goal has been met and SP is up for grabs!
$150: The Gilty Pleasures 18K Real Gold Nail Polish Topcoat Trio Gift Box (Zoya)
$250: Jawbreaker (Pretty & Polished)
$350: Deadly Nightshade (Dollish Polish)
$450: Shift Happens (Girly Bits)
$550: Violet (The Nail Junkie)
$650: The Koopa King (Dollish Polish)
$750: Train Underwater (Pahlish)
$850: A Peachy Princess (Dollish Polish)
$950: Spectral Pup and Vampires Coven (Dollish Polish)
$1,050: Go Luigi! (Dollish Polish)
$1,150: Floam (Ninja Polish)
$1,250: It's a Me, Mario (Dollish Polish)
$1,350: Apple (The Nail Junkie)
$1,500: Wicked Wario (Dollish Polish)

So if 20 people each make a $5 donation, a Gilty Box is up for grabs. Besides all of the other lovely, sparkly polishes that can be added. How could you not want to donate $5 to a great cause to try to win one?

Unfortunately, the downer is that the rules remain the same.

Polishing Off PC is open from now through 12am EST on October 14th.

This is open to residents of the US and Canada only. I cannot ship the prizes to other locations at this time.

Each dollar donated will count as 1 raffle "ticket." There is a $5.00 minimum donation on the site, so you will have at least 5 chances. Please feel free to donate more than that; the more you donate the more chances you have!

All donations for the raffle need to be made on my personal donation page on the Long Island Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk website. 100% of your donation goes to the Lustgarten Foundation. (If you have trouble with the link to my donation page please let me know.)

In the dedication section, please be sure to select your name for "Recognition From," and please check off "Yes, I would like to show my donation amount scrolling." That is really important since it is how I will getting the information to keep track of everyone's "tickets." The prize winners will be chosen based on that information with, and the names of the winners will be announced on my blog.

Why am I doing this? Because three years ago we lost my aunt to pancreatic cancer. It all happened so quickly - she passed less than three months after the diagnosis. Unfortunately it seems that most cases are like that. The symptoms are so "quiet" that by the time the diagnosis is made the cancer is already in an advanced stage, and oftentimes when there are symptoms they're attributed to other illnesses. According to the Lustgarten Foundation's website, "Pancreatic cancer has no early warning signs, and there are no effective screening tests" and "In the United States, cancer of the pancreas is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in both men and women." That is why I am doing the Long Island Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk to raise money for The Lustgarten Foundation on October 14th.

But I need your help. Please, tell as many people as you know about this and share away! The more I can get the word out the better, but I need your help.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment or to email me at

Thank you everyone for your help!
